They are heavy and chunky & not very realistic. I think they may hold more appeal for an 18 month old, though they are quite heavy. Our 3 year old grandchild picks them up from time to time, but they don't seem to hold her interest for long. The sounds are brilliant, they are easy to hold and they are much more realistic than any other set on the market. My only issue is that I bought these as i was fed up with my little one stealing my keys and trying them out against doors and walls, these toy keys are metal rather than plastic so unfortunately my little one is also able to do some damage with them, although not as much as they are safe and blunt.
