I added a solid sheet of plywood with the edges painted black, and added a rubber garage mat atop. Very solid. More functional & cost-effective than buying laundry pedestals that are model specific. This will fit any machine in my future.The benches assemble best using an electric screwdriver. I am uncertain whether the MDF is hollow but it seems lightweight.
