I didn't notice any issues in the rear diff, but the 6 speed in my STI was extra notchy when I swapped with this at 30k. Nearly couldn't get into 1st even at a dead standstill. I quickly switched to Amsoil and it performs much better - I still have to double clutch into 1st if I'm rolling and it's really cold, but that goes away after the car warms up a bit, and I can get into 1st just fine if I'm stopped or moving very slowly. **Q: Is this a synthetic based oil?** A: dont know but this is the only oil i have used that kept 3rd gear on my 2009 wrx from grinding. i actually thought my transmission was dead. i tried eneos/royal purple and ams oil each one for about 10k miles and 3rd gear would grind if i shifted at anything over 3k rpms. **Q: Is this actually extra s? soa427v1700 refers to "high performance gear oil" you should probably change the title...** A: It came in semi-clear unmarked bottles. It did not perform well for me. Once hot, shifts were very notchy. I changed to Severe Gear and all was well. **Q: Is this the factory fluid for a 2015 wrx? Manual transmission?** A: It is the official Subaru manual transmission and differential fluid.
