It can clean your back well. I just lather it up with my cetaphil gentle wash and scrub! I do have to be careful because it is very good at exfoliating and you can irritate your skin if you scrub too hard. I have had it for a very long time and it has not shed any material or torn. I rinse and wring it out and then hang it over my shower curtain rod and it is dry by the time I use it next. It has not acquired any mold. As far as KP, I haven't noticed it making a difference there, but I think sometimes other lotions or washes are needed with this to actually treat KP.
