I needed to sharpen standard steak knives that are over 10 years old. After sliding each knife through the sharpener about 4 times, the knives worked extremely well for cutting meat during a meal. Since the suction holds so well, it is very safe to use. And the sharpener is small, so it's easy to store in a kitchen drawer.

Works quickly and well. The blade sharpness doesn't last that long though. Possibly because of the sharpener angles. But it is a nice tool to have to keep your knives, serrated or not sharp for quick cutting.
