It smells nice but isn’t overly strong, softens my beard and also helps hold it in place and to prevent flyaways. I’ve seen the negative reviews but I wonder if they are maybe using it incorrectly, so here is how I use this product and achieve the desired results I want: 1. Start with a damp, not wet, beard. 2. Apply beard oil, if you use it, and spread/comb/brush it through your beard. 3. Take your desired amount of beard butter (my beard is a full beard and approx 4-5 inches long at this point and I use about a nickel sized amount) and apply it to your beard. Work it in deep to the skin and out to the end of your beard. 4. Brush, comb and style your beard. 5. Apply again later in the day if needed (I don’t need to), or just re-comb or brush it periodically if need be. That’s it! It keeps my beard moisturized, smelling good and keeps it tamed all day long! I think starting with a damp beard helps lock in the extra moisture and keeps it nice all day.
