The forefoot could use a touch more padding IMO, but the heel is very supportive and the arch curve is significant. Another plus here is the price of this brand, Sofsole. It's the forefoot, under the balls of the feet, metatarsal area. I measured a whopping 5mm of cushion and that's the key. Like many other insole brands, the heel is great, stable and cushiony. This model has a pronounced arch support too, so if you have high arches, these are nice. But the 5mm thickness in the forefoot is the best so far and you can feel the difference. Highly recommended. This says it's for people with a high arch. Why wouldn't it be right for a person with flat feet that is trying to improve their arches? Thanks.** A: You won't know til you try. I had been buying inserts supposedly for flat feet. I have extremely flat feet. My doctor sent me for physical therapy because of ankle pain. The therapist analyzed my gait and said I needed more arch support to correct my over pronation. I now use supports made for high arches and find I need the firm support. No more ankle pain. **Q: I have flat feet and usually use Superfeet green, but they are too expensive. Would this be a good alternative or are there better options for me?** A: I have a high arch and they give me the support I need, since I am on my feet all day long. I love them and will buy more for my other boots. Not sure if they will work for flat feet, but they really work for me. **Q: Do you need to remove your originial shoe insoles to use these?** A: Yes, I remove the soles that come with the shoes. I put them on top of new Sof Sole and trim with scissors for exact fit. **Q: Can I throw these through the washer? They are extremely smelly and dirty... baking soda isn't enough. They need a deep clean! Washer?** A: I've only hand washed these using Palmolive dishwashing detergent; but have had no problems doing that. I have high arches with out support my feet can really hurt after extended time standing or walking. These fit true to size and have been phenomenal in providing support and reliving my foot stress/pain. The only thing I don’t like is the arch support can sit a bit off and cause some discomfort and then I have make a minor adjustment to the placement of the insole to get it to sit under my arch better. I also don’t like how my arch is pushed up higher into the shoe. Makes them fit tighter, but it’s not terrible. Goes away after I start walking. I also tie them up a bit looser to accommodate. All in all I like these and if you have high arches give them a try!
