A: Yes can leave charging. Not looked for a spare suggest amazon

A: No sorry not good at all for carpets .
It's fabulous for wooden, tiles, or laminate  though.

**Q: Is it heavy to use for a 93 year old?**
A: No its very light weight compared to a shark which I find myself heavy

**Q: Is this freestanding ?**
A: It comes with a part so that you can attach it to a wall otherwise it has to be leant up against something when not in use.
Great machine. I rarely use my Dyson any more.
