Mistake (water got in behind cover) now everything blurred by condensation. **Q: Is there a guarantee on this product?** A: I'm not sure, but I don't recommend this product. The reset button stopped working after only one year and then the display started to fail, too. I wouldn't buy it again. **Q: Doesn't work. Given as a gift so can't do much about it?** A: Mine works perfectly, wherever I place it. Is the battery OK? Is it the correct way round (polarity)? If these are OK then when did you receive it and how old was it when you were given it? If within guarantee period or "fit for purpose" then get you friend to return it. Seems to work, but doesn't show the same temperature when tested next to the one (different product) that I've had for over a year.
