We have used it without oil for over a month now in a variety of dishes. It's brilliant. Nor is it as heavy as I suspected. The lid seems substantial, but the top knob is black Bakelite not the chrome that's shown in the photo. The handle clicks on and off easily, without being at all flimsy or shoogly. A great bit of kitchen kit. Review: Not non stick! - We bought this pan along with two larger saucepans a few years back at a stall at a food show. At the show they were cooking eggs and pancakes etc without any oil and everything was just sliding out of the pan. This is not the case! Although it did work well at the start, things soon started sticking to the pan without if not used with oil. It now takes a good bit of oil to fry anything without it sticking. I am making pancakes at the moment and am about to throw the damn thing at the wall, I'm so frustrated with it! I probably would if it didn't weigh a ton! It cost a lot of money and we were made to believe it would be a lifetime investment but I think my patience is over and I'm going to go to the nearest supermarket and buy a simple Teflon pan or similar. It's a really good pan, I use it most days, it's very versatile and you can cook most food in it. **Q: Is this pan induction compatible** A: So sorry James can't answer as I only use it on Aga & in oven slow-cooking. Its got 1 BAD fault - small loop handle gets excruciatingly hot & you must remember not to use it to lift pan off stove. My last equivalent pan (Berndes) was perfectly Ok so I've often forgotten and have burnt my right hand badly on several occasions. Just thought I'd tell you. I have bought a 'panholder' thing to try. Can't imagine why small handle isn't covered. Very satisfactory except for this fault - I nearly wrote to manufacturer! I treated myself to one last year and find it so easy to use in so many different ways. I am now buying another one as a gift. The best pan I have ever cooked with and love the way the handle can be removed, so can easily go into oven. I rarely write reviews but felt the Crafond cookware deserved an excellent review.
