I typically wear an 8 and 1/2, but I ordered the size 8 and while they felt slightly close at the end of the big toes initially, that worked itself out just fine. So the size 8 worked great, and I think a size 8.5 would have as well. The soul is good and has some grip to it, but the tread contours could be deeper if I wanted to use it for more serious hiking. These are great hiking sandals, just like Keens only 1/3 the price. These sandals were comfortable right out of the box. I love the velcro strip at the back - makes them easier to put on. The toe box is plenty wide and the sandals are true to size. The color is more blue than navy, but they match my well-worn jeans. I'm not sure if they're water resistant yet, but at this price and quality, it won't matter.
