I’m using the 3600 for small terminal tackle since I don’t have to worry about it getting mixed up going over the dividers since they go to the lid. I’m using the bigger ones for my larger baits obviously both soft and hard plastic I’ve got anything from a 2 and 1/4” soft plastic craw to 10” hard glide and swim baits. And its not close. *by R***K on November 14, 2025* Im going to shoot straight here. I am admittedly a bit of a gear junkie. I have several Plano Edge 3600s and several of these Kast King 3600 boxes. I wish I had less Planos and more Kast Kings. Its not close. Build quality is a push. The opening and closing mechanism on the Kast King makes Plano look like they went out of their way to make it more complex than it needs to be. The 4 rows on the Plano just makes it actually less functional than the 3 rows on the Kast King. I can fit more in the Kast King. Unless you are storing small jigs, terminal tackle, etc - the 4 rows just dont work as well as the 3. Kast King needs to make more bait specific boxes (which are absurdly expensive in the Plano Edge line) and once they do I cant see any reason youd spend twice as much or more on the Plano boxes that have no advantage. I gave 1 of the Kast King 3600s and 1 of the Plano Edge 3600s to my wife - who has no idea about any of this stuff - and asked her which she thought was more expensive and which opened in a less idiotic way - and she said she truly couldnt tell why either would be more expensive than the other and that the way the Kast King opened by itself would be the reason she would choose them. Listen.....Im all about having the best stuff. But go with the Kast King here. Equal build quality, better opening latch and you can get twice as many boxes for the same $. I also have a few Buzbe in this size and while the Buzbes are nice, they are just far heavier than they need to be and they have a tendency to slide and bang all over the Yak. The weight of them just makes them just unnecessary weight in a kayak. If you are a boat angler, that may not matter as much to you. Seriously though Kast King.
