I trimmed it (nothing difficult). Also, I cut one of the curtains into two parts, because it eases access to the closet. I never used the built-in glue strip, so I have no opinion, because I needed them to be flexible like real curtains, and I stuck the edges around the curtain rod with basic tape from a dollar store. It was easy to assemble, but I would recommend making yourself some space and giving yourself some time.
