Made from plywood, they are well finished and smooth. I upgraded from some plastic rings and the extra cost was well worth it. Add a bit of chalk and the wood absorbs it, leading to a grippier surface. They are also grippier in their natural state, even when your hands get sweaty.The straps are also good with the markings so they are really quick to set up as different lengths for your exercises. They are lighter than the ones I had been using but seem perfectly strong enough to cope with my bodyweight (83kg) and the friction mechanism seems fine.
