It slides perfectly inside my bedroom closet. For the small size, it's sturdy when set up. I took a picture but it doesn't appear I can load it. **Q: Can the iron rest be removed?** A: No. It's on there for good unless it breaks off or you saw it off. **Q: Does the 44” length include the ironing rest? What is the size of the ironing surface?** A: I bought this because it says it was 44" long. It's not. When you fold it and factor in legs, etc., it is around 51". I wanted to hang it in my laundry room cupboard, which is 47" high. I may still keep as it seems sturdy, and I am thinking I can hang it in another closet. Frustrating. **Q: has anyone hung this up? How did it go? And what did you use?** A: Yes, we hung ours with an over the door hanger from Amazon, it also held the Iron as well.
