I used it to stabilise the surface of the inside of a chimney, before closing up the fireplace (I got an empty spray bottle and made a mixture with the PVA and water). This was to ensure that bits of ancient soot and flaky bits of brick would not keep on falling within the blocked up hole. Easier to spray than to attempt brushing on. I have also used it (again, spraying this mixture) on an area of new plaster, preparatory to painting. But of course, I waited several days after the plasterer had left. Once applied (and this may vary according to ratio of solution, or even neat!), you need to allow 24 hours full drying time (it can remain tacky for quite some time). In your case, I would envisage a thin coat on the coat, followed fairly shortly with first layer of hay. 24 hours later, another coat (on the coat!) and more hay. Allow to dry fully. This is all off the top of my head suggestion; I am not a particularly crafty sort, but I would love to see evidence of how you get on. :-) **Q: My pergola is inserted into an area about a foot square which is filled with gravel stones. Could I poor this onto the stones to stick them together?** A: I doubt it very much - put cement in and try to stir it round - should set and be stronger. **Q: Does this product dry clear I want to use it diluted to protect painted walls** A: Yes it does dry clear - I used it to cost bare walls before painting.
