And as suggested in a previous post hybrid gauges should provide the best of both!Setup adjustment is usually required when changing string tension on a floyd rose trem, if you find the bridge is lifting, adjust the springs on the rear of the guitar to compensate and retune. However, I can strongly recommend D'Addario strings as I've used them for many years with total satisfaction, but I'd suggest you do an internet search for advice on stringing i.e., which gauge will suit your son best, then check out D'Addario for a match on Amazon. I'm a causal player and have no need for fancy metals and windings, but I do like reliability and durability. D'Addario's a good and trusted brand, and at such a cheap price I don't really see a reason for me to get anything else.As for gauge, I personally love 10-46 on my LP style guitar (same as the stock ones).
