I have terrible muscle pains in my neck and back, but the reason I got this was for the tendonitis in my arm. It smells just like every other ointment, it does go away after a while, it works really well for the tendonitis not so much for the muscle pain but that's what I use my biofreeze for. I use it cautiously around my dog because I saw a comment about neurological issues, I've been using it for about a month and have not had any issues with him. This stuff has been a godsend, it has helped relieve the pain as I heal.
