The vet said cat food is normally too fatty to be healthy for dogs but they’ll eat it -even when they won’t eat anything else-because it’s like a super-juicy hamburger to them! The vet suggested putting the pill in a small ball of canned pate’ cat food, especially if your dog has no appetite. First, give a tiny ball of pate’ without a pill so they anticipate the flavor then give them a ball with the pill hidden in it while showing them there is more- tricking them into gulping down the pill-ball. Follow up with a tiny dab of cat food and you’re done for an hour when they can stop fasting and eat a meal. In my dog’s case, the meal was cat food pate’ for a few days, then soft-ish dog food smeared with cat food pate’, and now we just use the cat food to hide pills in.) I know it sounds crazy but I watched a vet on youtube show how and it worked. The first little bit programs them for the larger piece which only covers the pill...they wolf it right down. I know it is working because the 22lbs. liver was so high it wouldn't even register on the scale. Follow up last week the liver blood work showed a dramatic drop to well below 300.
