(I'm a locksmith myself F.Y.I.) **Q: Can carriage bolts be hidden? If used on shed doors, wouldn’t thieves be able to remove bolts/unscrew the whole plate from the doors?** A: Carriage bolts would go through the six holes you see in the plates in the picture. To get the mechanism off, thieves would have to grind the heads off of the carriage bolts. At that point the whole lock system would be easy to pry off. You could use construction adhesive or something of the sort on the back of the plates when you mount them to make them harder to remove. If it's a metal shed, you could weld the plates directly to the outside of the building. That would take this system to the next level. If you're so inclined, you could also weld the carriage bolts to the metal plates when you're installing it. Regardless, carriage bolts alone will result in grinding being necessary to get past this lock. **Q: can these be keyed alike?** A: Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee keyed alike units on this marketplace. **Q: Can you remove the core and replace with a best core?** A: Yes.
