Review: and the attention to detail is fantastic. A set of this quality has to run ... - I do not write a review lightly. I can recognize quality when I see it!. First of all they were individually wrapped and well protected. The quality of these pieces is just incredible, gorgeous! and the attention to detail is fantastic. A set of this quality has to run in the hundreds of dollars. I don't think you can find anything this good at this price. I set them up on the chess board in my living room and they seem to be the new center of attention. The size and weight are perfectly balanced. I just LOVE them. I think they will last for a very long time. To be honest I think they overpassed my expectations. when I bought them and I saw that they were coming from India I was wondering how long it will take to make them all the way to the US, to my surprise they arrived in 2.5 days! How on earth! BUY THEM! You will be glad you did. Review: Great value for the set - The set I got was pratically flawless - if I was going to be a bit of nitpicker - the castle tops needed to be sanded a bit more to match every one of the other pieces. Color and finish and weight was amazing. The Knights are some of the niceses knights I've seen in that price range. ## Features - Wood Combination: Ebonized / Boxwood - King height - 4" (102mm) | King base - 1.7" (43mm) | 2 extra Queens provided. Color and finish and weight was amazing. This is the kind of set that doesn’t merely sit on a board; it dominates the room. The 4‑inch king stands with an imperial presence, its crown carved with architectural sharpness and perfect vertical symmetry. The knights — the soul of any Staunton design — are nothing short of breathtaking: deeply carved muzzles, flared manes, and a forward‑driving posture that radiates kinetic tension. These are not decorative horses; they are war machines, sculpted with the intensity of a master carver who understands that the knight is the emotional center of the Staunton universe. The ebonized army is finished with a depth and uniformity that rivals true ebony, absorbing light like polished obsidian. The boxwood side glows with a warm, honey‑gold clarity that only well‑seasoned timber can achieve. Every curve, bead, and shoulder transition is executed with lathe precision, the kind of clean geometry that reveals a steady hand and a disciplined eye. And then there is the weighting — triple‑weighted, totaling a commanding mass that gives each piece a grounded, deliberate authority. The moment you lift a rook or queen, you feel the unmistakable density of a set engineered for serious play. The bases are wide, tournament‑stable, and felted with meticulous alignment, ensuring a glide that is smooth, silent, and unmistakably luxurious. This is not merely a chess set. This is the Rio Staunton — a fusion of artistry and engineering, a modern heir to the Staunton legacy, and a set that transforms every match into a performance. If you place this on your board, you’re not just playing chess. You’re commanding a masterpiece. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.us/products/52682871-house-of-chess-ebonized-boxwood-rio-staunton-chess-pieces-king](https://www.desertcart.us/products/52682871-house-of-chess-ebonized-boxwood-rio-staunton-chess-pieces-king) --- *Product available on Desertcart United States of America* *Store origin: US* *Last updated: 2026-10-15*
