Among the many derivative types, the M4A1 was the first to go into mass production. The Sherman was equipped with a rounded cast upper body, as well as a 75 mm tank cannon with a long 37.5 caliber cannon body, which was effective for support attacks. In addition, the Sherman has an air-cooled 350 hp star engine that has been converted from the plane. Produced in 6,281, the M4A1 was deployed in large numbers on the North African Front, the Italian Front and the Landing Operation in Normandy, fighting hard with superior reliability and practicality against German tanks.
