The badge holder is only really going to clamp on itself if you have a thin shirt or jacket. I was using it on a sport coat, and I wasn't really able to keep it clamped. It's not a huge deal because the badge still hangs out of the pocket just fine, but it might slide around or fallout if you bend over. Fits the cards really well. I also don't know why it has to be double sided.
