I use it for cold and it's kept things cold for twelve plus hours. **Q: what size would suit a cycle bottle holder?** A: I bought the 950 ml and it is too wide for the cup holder in my Mini. I’m keeping it because it was ideal for the beach but I’m going to purchase a smaller size for the car. My previous water bottle was not insulated so it used to go warm during the night so I had to drink more of the water to quench my thirst. This bottle is great, you can fill it with iced water and seal it shut with the lid with a built in straw. Not only does it stay cold all night but also well into the next day keeping the drink refreshing, the ice also take some time to melt as it retains the hot or cold liquids temperature quite well. The bottle comes with two lids, one with a built in foldaway straw, ideal for cold drinks and one with an open mouth for hot drinks allowing you to pour the contents into a cup. It also comes with two straws and a long brush so you can clean the inside of them. The lids have built in folding carry handles to make the easy to carry and the lids and container are well made and feel quite durable. I purchased the dark blue one and it just has a plain logo and wording and looks quite nice. The insides and outside doesn't smell but I have only used it with water, so I don't know if it hold onto the smell of drinks like tea and coffee. It cleans easy, but don't use anything abrasive on it. The choice of lids is very welcome - so far I've only used the straw option for cold water, but can say it works well, seem totally leak proof and is easy to drink from (I had a different brand before where the finger loop bumped your nose when tipped up to drink).The bottle shape is taller/thinner, so it fits the pocket on my backpack where the short/fat ones simply wouldn't.
