The pump was completely silent at first. After a few months I could hear it running but it was not a problem. I just hope the sound of it running does not continue to increase over time. My only complaint is that the hose between the bed and the pump is too short for me. I would prefer to have the pump sitting on the floor on the other side of the nightstand opposite the bed but the hose is not long enough. Instead the pump must sit on top of our nightstands and it's pretty big (about the size of a shoe box) and not very attractive.
