Yes, it is a bit bulky but without it my AirPods were always sliding out of my pocket when I sat down. If I were to choose again, I would get a brighter color so when I throw it in my backpack I could find it. But that is advice, not a criticism. Also, it tends to collect lint a lot but a quick rinse takes care of it. The carabiner is attached with rubber and is not reinforced so personally, I would not rely on just that. However the hooks are not needed for me and if kept on airpods then they will not fit in the Apple case.
