**Q: Is the bottom of the bag stiff with cardboard or does it have a soft bottom?**
A: The bottom is soft, no cardboard inserts at all

A: There is one open section in the middle but has a zipper fir closure of the bag. Thee is a zipper compartment in the inside and one on the outside and two pockets on inside that I use fur sunglasses in one and cell phone in other.  I am
Enjoying this back lots. Soft and the handles are just right. I chose handles instead of shoulder but there is shoulder options.

A: Not sure, short strap is long enough to use as shoulder bag so I am not using long strap now while on vacation!
