She diligently cleaned the existing mirror and the back of the "new" one - this is critical according to the instructions (and my wife). You should let it sit for 24 hours before driving just to make sure it seals good. It is easy to get in the right place because it fit PERFECTLY within the black plastic ridge around the mirror. It looks great and works perfectly.
