## Description

From the manufacturer SteelStik is a hand-mixable, steel-reinforced, non-rusting epoxy putty that quickly repairs or rebuilds anything made of metal. After mixing, it forms an industrial-strength polymer compound that can be molded into shapes or used to build up, patch and repair steel components. SteelStik sets in 3-5 minutes and after 60 minutes, can be drilled, tapped, machined, ground, filed and painted. SteelStik cures to a dark grey color, is rated at a tensile strength of 900 PSI and will withstand temperatures up to 300ºF. Additional Attributes Chemical resistant against petroleum, hydraulic fluids and may other harsh chemicals when fully cured. NSF Certified – Safe for contact with potable water. Can resist continuous temperatures of 300°F (149°C) intermittent temperatures of 450°F (232°C).

Review: Strong, versatile and reliable - I've had a tube of this since 2019. I don't remember what I originally bought it for, but I used it successfully this weekend on a zinc plated coach bolt, to cover the threads and enlarge the overall size of the bolt as a striker for a self locking gate catch. I pulled a 3/4 inch piece from the tube, kneaded it for a couple of minutes until it started getting hot and then pressed it and shaped it until it set hard after five minutes. Initially it doesn't stick well, be patient and press gently in/on to the area to be puttied, it gets stickier as it warms up. After an hour, I was able to use sand paper and metal files on it. It sets as hard as steel, it dries a matt dark grey colour, antirust and can withstand temperatures as high as 300 degrees celcius. I've heard that this is particularly good for patching leaks in plumbing and the packaging says that it is food safe, so presumably it would be suitable for copper pipes for either central heating or mains water. I'm impressed by the versatility and long lasting nature of this product and know of many people who swear by this when everything else has failed them. It's so easy to use and it's definitely worth keeping in the toolbox for repairs of all sorts whether it's plastic or metal.

**Q: can this be used on glass?**
A: does not work well on glass

**Q: can it be used with plastic?**
A: ABS or PVC plastic.  If there is any polypropylene in the plastic then this will pop right off. If you are not sure of the plastic we would recommend using the JB weld plastic bonder item 50133

**Q: Starting to get rust damage on my hatchback, by the rear hinges, looks aren't important, will this seal and stop my car from smelling like a wet dog?**
A: if you just have rust or rust and holes  ... it can not span large holes and it sets up way too quickly to work it in once it is mixed together .. try a two part putty instead like bondo

**Q: Can you use this to rebuild a broken tooth on an outboard's flywheel?**
A: Not for anything forged or under stress like a flywheel, it works very well for repairing cast metal like a cracked engine case or block in a pinch. I personally would not consider it a permanent fix. I used it on my motorcycle to fix a cast aluminum clutch cover in the middle of nowhere with hot oil leaking out and it sealed it up for another 800 miles off road until I could order a replacement. Saved the trip.
