Something easy to put on, easy to clean, etc. This fleece material is easy to care for, and the Velcro type fasteners allow a custom, snug fit, even as our dog grows. He likes it! A good value too at the price listed.Some other coats we looked at fit in length but not girth, or vise-versa. Some focused more on style or novelty than functionality. This one is a good, basic coat all around.EDIT: After using this coat for a while, I lowered my rating by one star. The hook-and-loop ('Velcro') closures do not hold as strongly as they should. Have to press together quite tightly for them to hold; more than I should have to.
