All our suppliers are Fairtrade, and therefore provide a fair wage, working conditions, and terms of trade for the artisans making the products we sell. By providing a fair wage, artisans are paid equal to or above their regional minimum wage. It’s also ensured that a fair price has been mutually agreed by all parties involved, and that the principle of equal pay for work by women and men is enforced. Safe and fair working conditions mean that health and safety measures are established, no forced labour or child labour are used, and producers comply with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Fair terms of trade help ensure that workers aren’t being exploited, and can also mean they have more control and input into the work they do. It also promotes and protects the cultural identity and traditional skills of small producers as reflected in their craft designs. Respect for the environment is another key aspect to Fairtrade. Buyers and importers give priority to buying products made from materials that originate from sustainable sources, and have the least impact on the environment. Why Ethical Roots? All our products come with a money back guarantee, so if you aren't 100% satisfied with your product, you can send it back to us, no questions asked. As a company, we are passionate about improving the quality of life for individuals and communities within developing countries, to ultimately create a fairer world. Ethical Roots Fairtrade products may cost slightly more than comparable items but we believe, by selling products that are manufactured within the terms of Fairtrade, the vitally important task of reducing global inequality is achievable.
