Think small-sun amounts of light. OK so maybe that's exaggerating a little, but this lamp is one of the brightest low energy lamps we have ever seen. It blows everything else out of the water. With the consumption of 60 watts of power this lamp produces lumens, which is roughly the same as a 300w incandescent light. This bulb has a BC (Bayonet, B22) lamp cap. This crisp white light is a good choice for any area where work is done e.g. Kitchens, Bathrooms, Offices, Studios. If you need a lot of light for any reason, this is the lamp for you: Visually impaired people, photography studios, artists, animators - you have to see this to believe it. Also suitable to help with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). 240mm long and a maximum diameter of 75mm (the glass tube part of the lamp) it's not a small lamp, but more size equals more light. These high output Daylight bulbs (45w - 105w) can sometimes emit a slight buzzing noise when they are in use. If you are using them as hi-bay replacement bulbs or will be some distance away from them when they're in use, then you are unlikely to notice anything but these bulbs might not be ideal for use in an otherwise silent room. Though 7th one failed on arrival *by W***Y on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 February 2016* I already own the iboutique bulb that gets deserved glowing reviews but purchased this bulb as a replacement given it's higher quoted output to help energise me.It's bright, like really bright, l don't actually recommend looking directly at it kind of bright.It's large, you are going to need a large open lampshade to accommodate this bad boy.Colour spectrum is subtly different to the iboutique bulb, can't say yet whether it's better or worse, just different. It is a very good daylight balance though nonetheless.I was concerned about the sellers comments about potential for buzzing given this bulb is in my rather small study but mine is perfectly silent. Even my girlfriend can't hear it and she has the ears of a bat...........or at least appears to as I don't get away with anything :-)So great bulb in my opinionUpdate after a couple of years.... Bulb in the study is still super bright and silent, I have 6 of these in my double garage now and it's like being in the sun 😎 none of them buzz. Recently bought another one to decorate by.......
