Review: Overview : My wife and I live in a 2,000 square foot apartment and have had this humidifier running full blast for 24 hours a day for almost a week and it works great!! We put the unit in a central location in our place and it’s perfect. (This was an upgrade for us, the previous humidifier we had was cheaper and was difficult/annoying to clean and somewhat noisy. It wasn’t a Vicks brand.) The Good : This unit is much quieter and SO much easier to clean than the non Vicks brand we had before. The directions for cleaning this humidifier in the manual are very confusing and VERY different from videos you can find online that Vicks makes. I follow the video and ignore the manuals cleaning instructions. The amount of cool mist is quite plentiful and eases our dry skin and airways. (No more breathing discomfort in the mornings.) The tank holds enough water so we can run the unit at full blast for over 15 hours before a refill. I’ve read reviews about how it “leaks water all over”. I think that what the person may be referring to is the condensation that happens if the mist falls onto a surface such as a table or dresser. We’ve overcome this by either placing a washrag just in front of the unit on the table or setting the humidifier close to the edge of the dresser so the mist falls down allowing it to dissipate without coming into contact with anything. (We don’t have kids so there’s no worries about it getting accidentally knocked over.) The complaints about the sounds seem misunderstood. Yes, the unit makes noise; humidifiers do that. The sounds come from 3 different functions. 1) The motor that makes the unit work…. it’s a low-ish humming sound. 2) The bubbling created by the transducer (the round mist producing thing) 3) The periodic bubbling sound of the water moving from the tank into the reservoir leading to the transducer. Having used a cheaper non-Vicks unit for the past 3 winters, this unit is by far superior in keeping these sounds to a minimum. (I’m a very light sleeper and none of these sounds bother me one bit.) There is a place to put a scent pad; it came with 2 Vicks vapor pads. I experimented with putting a few drops of essential oil onto a piece of tissue and used that instead…. it worked well. Please watch the video I made to go along with this review. The Not-So Good : I can’t think of anything so far.

**Q: can I use essential oils in this?**
A: Part 2- please read part 1 of my answer first!!
A: I guess there's a character limit lol! 
Ok so tutorial continued from my above post: 

This is the super easy part! Take you Essential oil blend you made or purchased that you want to infuse into the pads and add just enough oil to coat the bottom of the container. Add your clean and dried used scent pads to the container. You can add a few pads at a time .if you have a few like I do, I usually infuse 8 pads at a time, adding 3 pads at a time, add more oil to the container. Add just a little for now. No need to saturate them yet! Put lid on and give it a good shake. Continue this process until all your pads are in the container. Now once all the pads are in the container just look 
At the pads and see how much they soaked up 
The oil. You want the pads to look/ be fully coated but obviously not dripping in oil. I've tried it both ways... where I filled up the jar with oils and allowed the pads to infuse that way but I've found it just makes a mess when you insert them into the scent pad compartment on the humidifier with dripping oils. It's not necessary and just wastes oils. So just add enough that the pads can soak up. This may entail letting them sit for a few days, check on them and add more scent/ oil as needed. When I infuse my pads I put just enough oil in the container to cover them. Store in your refrigerator. 
Then I check back a few days and the pads have the perfect amount infused. Before I use them, I let them infuse for a few days, like 3 or 4. I shake them up as often as I think of it just to stir them around because the pads will stick to each other if you don't and then you'll end up with dry patches with no oils and who wants that? Lol 
I try not to open the jar during this time but I'll check them to see if some stuck together. Don't use your fingers... use a pair of tweezers to handle them any time you touch them. 
So basically you've just knocked off or hacked the vapor/ scent pads! Keep the stored in the refrigerator AS IS until you're ready to use them. Again, to use, take them out with tweezers and place in the scent/ vapor compartment of your humidifier! Enjoy! Hope this helps you
