I already had a new pair from another company, but they were low quality. I’ll keep those as a back-up for when and if something ever happens to these Elite brand. So far, these have taken a real beating at my boxing class. I hit the bag HARD. They still look and smell like new. I think someone made a claim that these have a horrific smell. Maybe that was true in the beginning, but perhaps Elite did something about it because I notice nothing. First of all is comfort. I am 5 feet 8 inches tall, 140 pounds, so I chose the recommended 12 ounce glove. What I immediately noticed was that my hands and wrists didn’t hurt as much after hitting the bag hard as with my cheaper gloves. These supposedly have gel infused foam, so maybe that was the factor. I love the elastic section of the Velcro strap. You can stretch it and then Velcro it, so you get a REALLY snug fit around your wrists. After the two beatings on the bag I inspected all stitching and polyurethane leather. Everything perfect. Lastly, I LOVE the black and gold color. I am not a career boxer, nor do I have those aspirations. I hit the bag for cardio, strength training, and overall fitness. I wanted an inexpensive glove that looked good, felt good, and could take a beating. Found ‘em! I am already recommending these to the beginners in my class. HIGHLY recommended. Although the dojo had kick boxing gear for sale, it was a bit of an investment. Not knowing if she would stick with it, I was on the search for gloves that are more affordable without skimping on quality. I ordered the Elite black 6 ounce pair and they arrived next day. Just in time for her to try them on and practice at home. The fit was good and she said they are comfortable. They are easy to put on, fit snug but not too tight. I have pretty large hands and the 14oz fit nicely. The wrap around the wrist area is wide and has a very snug feel once secured. I have dedicated bag gloves, so these are more for light sparring and kickboxing combos. On the sparring side, they are not too big to where they are easily blocked and have enough cushion to protect both sides.
