Open them up and I choose to leave them for a couple of minutes to get plenty of air before putting them in my shoes. Always warm on any day and they do last a very long time with consistent heat throughout the day. Now this is not a big issue but, after wearing them for some time in all my different footwear I find they ride up at the heel to a point where they can be seen over the back of the shoes which means they are not in place at the front to keep your toes warm.
