Review: Don’t hesitate, buy it. It’s a cleaning chore game changer! - This Bissell floor cleaner is awesome! I’ve had it for 18 months and it has made cleaning floors a breeze. I have debilitating back pain that is excruciating when cleaning my floors. This machine makes the job so much easier! It glides itself across the floor, easier & smoother than a vacuum. It sucks up the water so well that the floors dry within seconds, not leaving behind a lake like competitor brand hard floor cleaners. My only complaint is that the dirty water container fills pretty quickly, making you have to stop & empty it more frequently than I’d like. Today I decided to try it on our Condo’s outdoor balcony floor, which is impossible to clean because the surface is very rough textured. Dirt settles into the crannies & it’s impossible to sweep it up. I posted pics & a video to show the in-progress results, which speak for themselves. The balcony floor looks brand new! I appreciate being able to clean it so easily because the balcony is a visual extension of our living room, and seeing all that filth out there bugged me. Now it’s sparkling clean! When cleaning our interior floors, I like to run our roomba first to clean the bulk of the dirt & dust, then I follow behind using this floor cleaner for bright, clean floors. It takes me about 30 minutes to clean 950 sqft & about 10 minutes to clean the machine parts & put it away. I also really like the feature for self-cleaning the roller. I rinse the filter that sits on top of the dirty water tank after every use and keep everything apart until dried. Doing that & cleaning the roller has prevented the machine from smelling musty or gross. If this machine breaks, I’ll immediately buy another one. Buy it, you won’t regret it.
Review: 5 STARS (minus the manual which is horrible). Try the following… - I’ve had this machine for well over a year, used it heavily 3-5 times a week, and love it! But, you have to know what the manual leaves out to make it work really well and efficiently. AND, you DO actually have to read the manual. It took me 6 months to make this the best machine I have ever used with lots of trial and error. A better manual would have saved me so much time! I have had nearly every problem listed in the reviews but so far have discovered it was either user (my!) error or there is an easy way to fix the problem. So, here is my manual in no great order! *First, it has to be put together just right. If things aren’t clicked in, anything is loose, whatever, go back and re-assemble everything to make sure everything is in place. Seems silly, but it makes a huge difference. It leaked everywhere my first use and the lid to the formula dispenser wasn’t on exactly right. Next, this isn’t a machine like a regular vacuum where you make one swipe up and back and move to the adjoining “swipe.” The way it has worked best for me is to : 1. First, divide the floor into sections and clean each section one at a time. I often use tile lines to keep track of where I am. For instance, in an average sized square kitchen, divide it into 4 smaller squares. Do each section separately. I use the STEAM setting almost exclusively. 2. For the first up and back swipes, squeeze the water/formula dispenser button most or the entire time, covering the first small section. Holding the dispenser button the whole time will leave areas that are too wet and streaky. That’s ok. The extra liquid that sits while you do the rest of that section helps soak loose any tough spots or stains. If you don’t do small sections at a time and try to do the entire floor at once, you will have a huge wet mess or an unclean, streaky floor. 3. Next, WITHOUT using the water/formula button (vacuum function only), go back over that same section using similar back and forth swipes, just a little more slowly, to suck up the extra liquid. It uses the steam to really clean the area well that way also. Depending on how dirty the floor was, you may need to use a little more liquid here and there and dry vacuum that up again. After you have gone over the area with the vacuum function only (and if you’re a perfectionist like I am), you may want to go diagonally over the same area to remove any tiny lines that are left and get rid of any streaks you see. When you get the hang of this, cleaning a hard floor goes super, super fast and the floor looks great! Plus, it is mostly dry right away if you have gone over it enough with the steam/vacuum function only. More tips: * It does edges and corners very well, but if it’s missing dirt or debris somewhere along a wall or floorboard, try to go horizontally along the edge rather than approaching it vertically or “head on” (or vice versa). Once in a while it won’t reach into a really tight corner and you have to use a cloth or something. Not very often though. * If the floor has a ton of animal hair, big leaves, lots of debris, sweep that up first with a broom or vacuum. This machine is great but not a shopvac! * The first couple times you use it you will be shocked at the amount of dirt, lint, hair, debris, etc. that it sucks up. If you have cleaned a really dirty area and the machine starts leaving debris, you probably need to rinse out the dirty liquid container and other parts. Clean the machine out VERY well after each use. It sucks up so much you didn’t see that it takes a bit to rinse off all the parts. You should also let it dry in between uses. * When filling the clean water/formula bottle, I use a little less formula than the line indicates and add a little more water. If you are getting too many suds on the floor, use a more dilute formula. The steam function with warm water in the bottle alone is actually sufficient without any formula for lots of uses. * You can clean the replaceable filters by opening the mesh trap door and rinsing really well on both sides. Eventually you will need to replace it, but I definitely don’t do it as often as recommended because you can run clean water through it from both directions and make it last a lot longer. * Once I started using this and got the hang of it, all I could imagine was how a regular mop just moved around the dirt. There is a learning curve so I’d give it til the very end of the return window to send it back unless you e tried it multiple times or something is clearly broken. * Finally, I wouldn’t bother with the cordless models. Tried those and they ran out of battery way too fast using the above described method. Good luck from a home with a 12 year old, 2 dogs and 2 kittens with a (mostly!) clean floor!!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does it have a hair strainer like the pet version does?**
A: Yes it does. I actually ordered this version and the cordless version. I strongly recommend recorded version. As a cordless one did not have the same power or cleaning ability is the cordless version. But in both cases they had the strainer for pet hair and we have five dogs. I love this unit that performs greatly and it does a great job cleaning especially the steam cleaning function

**Q: Hi All Can I use this just a normal vacuum without using water or steam? TY**
A: No, the CrossWave isn't intended to be used as a dry vacuum.

**Q: How well does it vacuum? Can you set to vacuum only?**
A: The hydro steam can vacuum only. You set it to hard floor and just never pull the trigger for the cleaning fluid. It will only vacuum well on hard floor, and for bigger pieces, you will need to tilt it back and drop it on them. Hope this helps.

**Q: Has anyone used this for just vacuuming? Does it work well?**
A: If you’re vacuuming just a hard surface then I’d say it does a good job. It is primarily a mop though, so I wouldn’t purchase this with the intent of it being the sole vacuum of the home. Even after using I do still need my vacuum with the stick attachments to get some areas of my kitchen.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Honest review
*by C***E on May 10, 2026*

I have two dogs that shed nonstop all year long and track in mud, a toddler and a baby who make messes, and this has been a total game changer. Looking to kill two birds with onw stone? Then this is right for you. Its a total game changer. I no longer have to spend hours vacuuming, put the washable rugs through the laundry, and hours mopping (usually have to go over the floor 3x for it to be clean enough with mop). This is all once and done! I used to spend over half the day cleaning to get ready for company, now I dont! The floors are all done within 30 minutes. My biggest regret is not getting this sooner. The quality and convenience is worth the price in my books. The floor is dry ingredients minutes, and its super easy to use. It so far has passed my baby wipe test! I use a baby wipe to check how clean the floor is between mopping, and if any dirt comes off I mop again. With a regular Microfiber mop it would take me over 3x, with this its once and done. It also is relatively light weight, so I dont feel like im braking my back and can do it while holding my baby. Cons: -The sample fluid smells amazing, but I wish they provided a bigger sample size or at least just put in one full bottle for the price. You will most likely need another bottle after using it 3x. -I wish the drainage compartment for dirty water was a wee bit bigger. -I wish it had better maneuverability to get in harder to reach areas and get the sides near the walls better. -I really wish it came with a hose or something to be able to get steps! That would be a total life saver. All in all it is super easy and efficient. My husband purchased as a mother's day gift, and it has been the best gift I have ever been given.
