This is the missing link. Creates more surface area, and greater ventilation - resulting in higher heat. Makes for easy clean up, and easily allows hitting the 750 to 900 degree temps. Downside is hard to do slow and go without almost shutting down vents completely. So I go back to stock grate when smoking, and use the basket when I'm looking for the higher grilling temps. Sturdy build, and should have lasting power. Clean and store when not using, so not in the elements when not being used. Pricey, but to be expected with all Joe/Green accessories. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Useful accessory for the KJ *by M***. on Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2017* This is a well built item that adds functionality to the Kamado Joe. I have only used it once so far, but I can say that using the basket definitely makes re-using in-burnt charcoal chunks easier -- all you have to do is shake off the ashes. You can do this inside the cooker or remove it to shake it off. Taking it out means removing the accessory ring -- not a big deal (maybe it can be removed without this step). But the thing that I like the most is the improved airflow that the basket affords. I could get up to higher temperatures more quickly and I thought that the burn was more uniform. It have a KJ "Classic", and the basket fit perfectly. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Pricey but worth it! *by J***G on Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2017* It is a bit pricey, but high quality construction. It makes cleanout simple and so much less messy. Just give the bucket a shake and the ash falls out into the cleanout tray. Add more lump and good to go for another cook! Seems to get excellent air flow. The only slight negative is that the bucket sits below the divide and conquer system, which needs to be removed before the bucket can be shaken.
