She can walk on her own, but sometimes the legs want to play tricks on her and give out. This has given her the security she needs. The cane is light weight, but sturdy. To fold is push of a button. We got purple and it's beautiful. The extra handle comes in handy for getting up. She also liked that even thought it's four legs, it's not bulky. Very easy to walk with. This is very first cane, but shes had no problem using it. She is just under 300lbs and it supports her perfectly. I've seen her form improve with walking. She can stand up straight, rather leaning or bracing for impact.
