Review: Cross Bailey - the best ballpoint I own - I bought one of these pens for my wife and was so impressed with is, I bought one for myself. A well made ballpoint pen with a brass skeleton encased in a smooth plastic barrel skin which you rotate to reveal/retract the nib. It is a well balanced pen and the shape, thickness of the barrel and heft inspires confidence when writing. Ink coverage is even and the writing action smooth. To replace the ink you have to separate the barrel from the top of the pen (the part which holds the clip) by pulling the two parts away from each other in a smooth but reassuringly resistant action, this reveals the top of the refill (black plastic) which you unscrew from the silver-coloured metal housing, insert the refill and reverse the action to put the pen back together. The pen deserves 5 stars, but there is one (small) thing which I think would make it even better: the word CROSS is stamped on the clip and if you are right-handed it reads CROSS when writing. However, if you are left-handed, as I am, it reads CROSS upside-down. I wrote to Cross suggesting they stamped their clips with the word CROSS, vertically, but was told it is complicated changing the template. A small point but minor improvements are improvements. I still give it 5 stars.

**Q: Does this come in a presentation box? It’s for a gift. Thanks**
A: No! Don't buy it!
The pen arrived in a broken ordinary plastic box, which was also broken as someone obviously has a look at my pen, or it's a return pen.A total disappointment from AMAZON as it this a gift and in the presentation photos the item is shown in a nice cardboard luxury box!

**Q: How do you put the refill in?**
A: Just pull the top and bottom apart gently. This will reveal the refill. Unscrew the old one, turning the black tip. Extract, fit refill and screw in. Push top and bottom back together.

**Q: does this pen come in a presentation box and a refill?**
A: did come in box but no refill.

**Q: Is this suitable to get engraved?**
A: Very suitable.
The product is made from Brass. Certain engravers will go down to the Brass metal and it will show a goldish tone.
Others will just take the top layer off (laser engraving) and the text will appear into the Chrome.

I bought one of these pens for my wife and was so impressed with is, I bought one for myself. A well made ballpoint pen with a brass skeleton encased in a smooth plastic barrel skin which you rotate to reveal/retract the nib. It is a well balanced pen and the shape, thickness of the barrel and heft inspires confidence when writing. Ink coverage is even and the writing action smooth. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Instruction sheet needs improvement.

This is a really beautiful pen and is fully deserving of five stars. My only quibble is regarding the instruction sheet that comes with it. The print is very small, in a number of languages and covering a range of products, not just this one. Looking at the pen, and ignoring the instructions, it is pretty clear what you have to do to change the refill and replace it with a new one, but it wasn't that easy! The old one didn't want to budge and I was on the point of using a pair of pliers to get it out when it finally decided to unscrew. What should have taken a few seconds took about ten minutes because the refill was screwed in so tight and I didn't want to risk damaging the pen. Apart from that the pen is brilliant!
