It works fine on an elongated toilet. I have a large one and have used this riser for 5 months. It has about a 1 1/2 inch lip that fits inside the bowl. I placed each stick-on foam pad on each side of this lip. Some I cut in half to make them thicker for the sides and back. This stopped any movement. Keep them pressed on and after a week they stay stuck. I remove the riser and wipe with a piece of toilet paper after each use. Mainly just water. It makes SO much difference; I couldn't get up otherwise. It's light weight and easy to remove when not needed for able bodied people. It's really a great invention for us old codgers. If you have trouble to get up from a low chair or seat of any kind, you need this. I have always wondered why toilets are made so low.
