In combination with a hook from the additional hanging kit. The difference between this and the ones without a bar was obvious in the dorm I was in. I liked the space it gave me. I did not get bitten overnight (others did) and I had a multitude of creepy crawlers on the outside of the net. Also kept the geckos out of ‘my space’ !
