Review: Great for us, install through drywall possible, auto control is neat - Installed as new fan where previously was nothing, in finished ceiling. Install not too bad, but had to bend over tabs on outside to fit it through rough opening in drywall. Totally doable, but not designed to fit through hole in drywall right out of the box. Controls seem to work well. "Auto" humidity sensing turns on once in a while, which is good since we have in a basement bath. Very quiet on auto, which is a very low speed. Quick flick of wall switch (off then back on) changes from auto to full speed. Seems you have to flick off/on again to go back to auto (or just off), wish it had a timer to return it to auto function. It is pretty quiet in both modes, but not silent in high speed. Also not load enough to cover any other sounds in a bathroom. Has an LED behind grille to help know what mode, blue in auto, orange in full speed. I'd buy again. Simple and effective.

The fan does run sometimes when the shower has not been used for a while. I like the fact that it has variable speeds. It will start out low, then up the speed when someone is in the shower. It will slow down again when the moisture reduces. It does all this very quietly.

I ordered these to replace several tired NuTone fans that were original to the house. These measured 7 1/2 and 7 1/4. I figured these would exchange with the ones I am replacing with little fuss. Unfortunately they required drywall cutting in my case of half an inch to get these to seat completely. So yes, these are a smaller fan that almost fit most applications but if they don't, cutting1/4 to 1/2 inch of drywall is basically the same as cutting 6 inches. I don't mind doing this but at this point, I really could of just cut any size I needed and went to the big box store and picked one out. This is on me for not reading the measurements exactly and realizing that these need to sit flush with the drywall and not above it. I wasn't going to the large size fan anyway and these are quiet for sure. I have the one with the sensor on in my kids bathroom size they never remember to put it on to avoid steaming up so we will see how that goes. I think my point is that these aren't a simple plug and play replacement even if the size is mostly the same. You still need to remove the old one. If its in an attic, you will most likely need to get up there since its nailed or screwed on the tabs that aren't accessible from below.
