The new stuff does not work. We were so concerned that what we got was a counterfeit, that we bought more product at a brick and mortar store that had old stock. And sure enough there was a difference. The new formula does not form the hair, and feels watery. This is disappointing because we have been using this stuff for a few decades. **Q: Is the formula the same with the new labeling?** A: Yes ... I've not seen any changes to the product quality, consistency, or ability to hold. I started using it as an alternate to "Crew Comb". **Q: Will this work on chin length hair styled in a slick back? If so, is it best to apply to damp or dry hair? Is the hold good?** A: It can work for chin hair. The performance would depend on hair thickness. This product provides medium hold. For me it works better on damp hair. Ocassionally, during non-ideal situations, I use it on dry hair but it tends to form globs if not careful.
