## Customer Reviews

Fine, just like the old handle... but here are some words of caution and instruction.

*by S***G on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 October 2016*

Before ordering this product, some words of caution: firstly make sure this handle is the correct one for your machine. If you have a non-standard portafilter, i.e. one that did not come with your machine, you may consider contacting the manufacturer of your portafilter. All I can tell you is that it DOES fit the portafilter that came with my Gaggia Classic.Secondly, as others have pointed out, removal of the retaining bolt is tricky, especially if the portafilter has been used for some time / years. Proceed with the removal of the bolt VERY CAREFULLY, using a 10mm socket wrench on an extension. If the bolt won't budge, there are tips on this elsewhere in this review section and / or on YouTube.Thirdly: once you have removed the old bolt you will probably find that it is rusty. Soak the bolt in vinegar for a few days to remove the rust - you will find it will look almost like new. Some people swear by cider vinegar, however most vinegars will probably work just fine (I used white wine vinegar). Put some vinegar also in the "nut" part of the portafilter and seal with sellotape or blu-tak.Before re-assembly, wash and clean the vinegar off the bolt and nut. Dry with kitchen paper. Now squirt a small amount of WD40 into the nut part and test the bolt. It should work fine. When confident that all bits are marrying nicely, fit the new handle and re-fit the bolt. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN THE BOLT.Regards to all - and happy coffee-making!

Make Sure Your Old Bolt Can Be Removed Before Buying This Handle

*by M***N on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 July 2015*

I should have listened to some of the other revues. The replacement handle and screw are fine and I am temporarily using the new handle, without the bolt, because as other people have found, if your coffee machine is several years old, the old bolt will be corroded inside.I sprayed it with WD40 and left it for 24 hours, It still sheared off, so I have wasted my money. If you think your old bolt has seized up inside the metal part, save yourself some time and money, go straight for a new Portafilter.P.S.Figuring I had nothing to lose, I drilled out the old bolt, small drill first, then same size drill as the bolt, inserted a small, cut down, nylon rawlplug, used a cut down screw and a spring washer and now I'm back in business. Anyone for coffee?

Like for like replacement - don't buy until you get the old handle off (undo bolt)

It fits gaggia portafilter handle. As such 5 stars. My old handle lasted about 3-4 years.Separately bought:- a new bolt- handle end bit- a long spanner to fit inside the length of the handle to use with the 10mm bolt. (in he end I didn't use this)Getting the bolt out can be major headache. I sprayed inside the handle with wD40 and planned to use the long panner to fit inside to grip the screw, no joy. Left 24hrs with wd40. No joy. Got a hammer and smashed the old handle to get at the bolt. Very rusted (but I did put the portafilter in the dishwasher many times). Soaked the end including the bolt in a little cap of wd40 for 24hrs and got out a good set of plyers with teeth that gripped the badly rusted head of the screw - and finally the screw came out quite easily.
