However, if you are going to be away from a car for a while you may need to carry a water bottle and a rain jacket, in which case you are back to using a day pack. As noted by others, zipper pull is on the left / lady style. A water bottle specific holder would be a nice modification. You can carry a water bottle in an open hip pocket but it would project up out of the pocket and could easily fall out. On the other hand,t a full water bottle would add a lot of weight.
