Having a 2 year old I didn't want to take spend much as there is a fair chance he will get his hands on it. I took the plunge on this set and a well packaged parcel turned up a couple of days later. On first inspection the track is a nice slightly flexible plastic and a big 1.8m circumference circle. The loco is pretty weighty for a plastic train and after popping the batteries in it ran very nicely around the track. All in all this is a nice set and well worth the money. Review: Very good train set as a one off. - My grandson already had another 'classic train set' & loves it. I bought this 'classic train set' in the hope of extending the original with more track & another engine. While this second set is very good on its own, it is not compatible with the original, having different track & made on a different scale. (lenght and height)”** A: the locomotive is 17cm X 5cm....hope that helps. **Q: Would be ok to leave in garde around fairy village?** A: The track may survive outside, but in my view the rolling stock is definitely not weather resistant. The first one was broken by my grand daughter by tripping over the track in the first 10 minutes but this was not the fault of the train set. It's excellent value for the money (if a little flimsy) and entertained my grandson and his friends on his birthday. It has no sounds but has a small light at the front of the loco and rides quite nicely on the circular track. It's a little awkward to get the loco and trucks to sit properly on the track but once on it ran absolutely fine and only fell off when "assisted" by the youngsters.
