A: My husband put it together. The way it works is s follows. The chair has 7 parts. You are asking about the post which is the middle piece. The post sets in the hole of the middle of the legs, you push that in. Nothing required to secure it. Same with the bottom of the seat. You sit on it and it sets itself in tightly. This chair is so cute and retro. I love the way it looks in my room. It was pretty simple to put together. One arm of the chair is slightly crooked, but I don't really notice it too much. It is more comfortable than I expected, I'd say suitable for a few hours of use each day. Starts to hurt my bottom/lower back once I hit around 4 hours, so probably not good for remote work/gaming. Chair is perfect for my needs.
