I’m sure there are wood strips because the sheetrock had to be nailed to something. Just my guess. **Q: Is the cover paintable?** A: Don’t know. Both covers are concealed, so it doesn’t seem to matter. **Q: What are the product dimensions?** A: Hey, the product size is: Length 3.74 in * Width 3.74 in * Height 1.37 in **Q: If I have insulation on the wall, can I use this?** A: It can accommodate wall thickness, maximum: 24mm, minimum: 12mm. If the wall thickness exceeds 12mm, you need to use a screwdriver to turn the stud clockwise and adjust it according to the wall thickness. Be careful not to exceed 24mm, otherwise the stud buckle will fall!! Yes you have to cut two big holes in your wall but the end effect is worth it. Cables hidden from view. I managed to get power cord, 2 HDMI, toslink and ethernet cable routed through this.
