Do they sound different or is it just the design?** A: Actually not to much, I played both side by side at guitar center at the point they had both there, I really thought the vinal covered one would be slightly quieter because it was must be muffled by the vinal skin, but there really wasn't any difference I could hear, I chose the black engraved design and I love it, it got done scratches and marks on it from my own ware and tear and other peoples as well, the vinal might be a good protection against it but it depends on the look you're going for and what outfits you might ware wen playing it, but I really think they sound the same, honestly I couldn't tell the difference even tho I expected to **Q: Does this come with a carrying bag? I am trying to replace a ceramic doumbek and the specs for this lists 2 different weights - 17.2 and 7.2 lbs.** A: The actual weight is closer to 7.2. I weighed myself with and without the doumbek. The difference was only about 6 lbs. I am guessing that is a rough measure since I used an ordinary bathroom scale.
