Just because they are japanese and folded like a Samurai sword don't use them as throwing knives, treat them with respect, don't leave them wet, keep them sharp and they are the best kitchen device I have by a long way.

Get a sharpener too, fab knives, I have one that is 15 years old and still going strong.
